Changing Streets, Changing Attitudes, Changing Communities

Our Principles:

1. The public right of way belongs to all of us, and it should be reclaimed as space that is safe and inviting for everyone, supports many different uses, helps to build community, and enhances our quality of life.

2. Walking, biking and transit are the “new norm”, not “alternatives”, and Seattle residents should be able to meet all their daily needs conveniently and safely by walking, biking, or taking transit.

3. All our neighborhoods should be connected with frequent, reliable transit service that treats users with dignity -  well designed, comfortable, and pleasant.

4. It’s time to stop subsidies and preferences for automobiles that hurt our communities and our planet.

By joining the Streets for People Campaign you will:

• Join individuals and organizations throughout Seattle dedicated to a new vision of public places.

• Become part of network of community leaders who can provide resources, advice and support on your local projects.

• Be informed about issues and opportunities as they arise, to help create sustainable change.
