Seattle Great City Initiative supports the Local Food Action Initiative.    We applaud the Council for taking action to ensure that all of Seattle’s residents have access to healthy, fresh, local foods.  Working to increase access to local foods will increase social equity, provide citizens with more healthy food choices, boost local economies, and encourage more food to be grown within Seattle.  As fuel prices increase, it will also help ensure that food can remain affordable.  We believe this effort is consistent with our goals to make Seattle a great place to live and work and a model of economic and environmental sustainability.
