Suggested talking Points in support of ProParks Levy Renewal
-
- As Seattle continues to grow, the public
expects new investment in parks and public spaces to accompany new
density.
- The last Pro Parks Levy was a
great success, building parks throughout the city, and leveraging matching
funds from other public and private sources. (over $.37 per dollar)
- The Mayor has proposed
waiting until 2010 for a new Parks levy. Growth is not taking a
break, and without capital funds we will miss opportunities to improve
our city.
- The Pike Place Market is
great, but growth is occurring all over town, not just at the Market.
- In recent years we have used
levies to fund housing, libraries, fire stations, even street
maintenance. Parks are also essential infrastructure, and need
dedicated funding.
- Investing in making Seattle a great,
livable city makes the entire region more sustainable, by attracting
families, seniors and businesses.
