Julia Walton
Urban Designer, AHBL, Incorporated
Julia Walton, Associate Principal with AHBL, Incorporated, has been known throughout her 25 year career for innovations and leadership in developing new trends and methodologies in urban design.
As the region’s communities mature, Julia’s current work focuses on the layers of urban design which increase quality of life and community vitality in complex urban environments. In response to the region’s diverse populations of differing ages, Julia’s work includes physical design and social programming to provide active and healthy living environments, sustainable communities, functioning urban ecology, and revitalized centers and corridors.
With 25 years of experience, one of Julia’s strengths is her range of experience in public projects, from City-wide plans and policies to site specific redevelopment improvements.
Trained as both an architect and a planner, Julia uses illustration and example to show “what it might look like” as a template for policy and regulation to successfully lead clients and the public through project discussions.
As a certified integral life coach, Julia leads communities through “difficult conversations” to build agreements that stick. She is the winner of 2 national awards for public involvement. Recent sustainable projects include the 2004 National APA Award winning Chambers Creek Properties Master Site Plan & Implementation.
