Key Highlights Include: Underwood got his start in politics interning for United States Senator Patty Murray in her Seattle office. Colby Underwood Consulting LLC began as Underwood built a finance team to help King County Councilmember Greg Nickels successfully unseat the incumbent Mayor of Seattle by raising $600,000.00 in campaign contributions from 3,500 different constituents. In 2000, he served on the finance team for Governor Gary Locke’s reelection campaign and raised over $3.5 million in contributions for Washington’s incumbent governor. His firm has grown to include over seven employees who help more than 30 candidates each year run for office.
During the 2006 election year, Colby Underwood Consulting LLC raised more than $6 million in funds for three different U.S. House of Representatives candidates in Washington State. This included over $3 million for the Darcy Burner for Congress campaign – the most ever raised by any candidate for the U.S. House of any party in the history of Washington State.
Giving Back: Underwood believes in giving back to the community. In that capacity, he serves as a Senior Consultant for EcoStructure, a Boise, Idaho based environmental think-tank and is a Board Member for Operation Nightwatch, an organization dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor by caring for homeless men, women, and children late at night. He also recently joined the Board of Directors for Senior Services of Snohomish County, the largest non profit agency in Snohomish County serving the senior citizen community. In addition, Underwood mentors aspiring college students who wish to pursue careers in politics.
Born and raised in Western Washington, Colby has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Washington. In his spare time, he enjoys flying private aircraft, playing competitive basketball, working on investment projects and traveling.
