2008 Priorities
Description of 2008 priorities
1. More housing in Seattle, to serve a diversity of income levels, in vibrant, walkable, environmentally sustainable neighborhoods. (Housing Priority) Specific legislative targets include the Multifamily Property Tax Exemption, Multifamily Zoning Code, South Downtown Upzone and South Lake Union.
2. Define and fund a new round of green investments (Parks Priority) Persuade the city to initiate a comprehensive planning effort for green infrastructure expenditures, including a funding plan. A major objective is for the 2008 Levy to include funding for parks and green infrastructure. A secondary target is to advocate that existing city policies and capital spending integrate multiple objectives of open space, the urban forest, green streets, natural drainage, and stream and waterbody restoration efforts.
3. Neighborhood streets and local mobility (Transportation Priority). Engage in public education about the range of choices we can make for our local streets to accelerate Seattleās trend toward walking, biking and transit, and away from automobile reliance. Identify opportunities to influence policy or agency decisions in 2008 (e.g., development of Pedestrian Master Plan, implementation of Complete Streets or Bicycle Master Plan.)
