Can the Streetcar get to Roy?

Earlier this summer, our friends at the Capitol Hill Community Council celebrated the integration of their concept of a cycletrack on Broadway into official preliminary renderings and animations–one of two key elements of their Capitol Hill Complete Streetcar campaign.

The other goal of the campaign is to extend the streetcar line north, to Aloha St. in order to cover more of the business district, something the Transportation Choices Coalition has advocated for as well.

Publicola yesterday highlighted a letter Seattle’s City Council is sending to Sound Transit, requesting that “excess” ST2 funds be used to design an extension of the First Hill Streetcar line to the northern end of the Broadway business district.  Current plans call for the line to terminate at the Denny Way light rail station, several blocks to the south.

Slowly but surely, Seattle is becoming a place with Streets for All.
