Thanks for the Kraftwerk trivia! Finding the best way to use our public rights of way as open spaces is something we've discussed at Streets for People- 42% of downtown Seattle is public right of way, and it's currently designed for cars. Both Niels and our speaker from New York at the Streets for People kickoff mentioned creating quality places on our streets. Our goal is to create them in Seattle.

Lydia

The Streets for People Campaign is completely open to being defined by those who want to get involved. So, bring your definition to the campaign, and fly your walking flag. It is welcome.

As for streets being parks -- I am completely with you. Perhaps the opportunity fund from the Parks Levy can help create some great green streets, along with an enlightened SDOT.
